Posted on behalf of Sophie Repp; questions to <[log in to unmask]>, please. I think the theme of the conference could be of interest to a lot of people working in quantitative sociolinguistics at the moment, since many of us are explicitly interested in the light that our data-driven approach can shed on linguistic theory - but please note that the deadline for abstract submission is next week!

=====================================

Linguistic Evidence - Berlin Special

The biennial Linguistic Evidence conference at Tübingen, Germany, has been a meeting place since 2004 for linguists who wish to improve the empirical adequacy of linguistic theory and linguistic description. In 2013 the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin will host a Special Edition of Linguistic Evidence to promote the goals of this conference series and foster the dialogue between linguists aiming at a close integration of data-driven and theory-driven approaches to the study of language systems, language behaviour, and language functions.

The conference will take place: 4-6 April 2013.

Invited Speakers:
Lewis Bott (Cardiff University)
Sam Featherston (University of Tübingen)
Antonella Sorace (The University of Edinburgh)

We invite abstracts for oral presentations as well as poster presentations from all fields of linguistics which either:

a. apply data from linguistic corpora (contemporary and historical), psycholinguistic and neurolinguistic experimentation, computational modeling, language acquisition or fieldwork to linguistic issues;

b. make use of quantifiable evidence to produce novel analyses or perspectives on questions of the representation, processing, or acquisition of linguistic systems;

c. offer insights into promising new methods of data collection, processing, and analysis which may be of interest to linguists or researchers in adjacent fields.

Deadline for submissions: 5 December 2012
Notification of acceptance: Beginning of February 2013

Abstract format:
pdf, 2 pages A4 format (including examples, references, as well as tables, figures (if any)).
2.5 cm margin on all sides, 11 point Arial, single-spaced

The details of the submission process and any other information about the conference will be announced on the following webpage:
