Hi Everyone,
After the busy summer and a winter that has just seemed to creep up on everyone, we at IRMS are pleased to announce that the deadline for entering submissions for the IRMS Alison North New Professionals Award has been extended to the 28th February 2013.

The Prize. The prize is attendance at the IRMS Annual Conference in May 2013 and comprises full delegate fees and accommodation, what’s more is that should the winner already be in receipt of an employer paid/fully sponsored place at Conference, then the prize will be equivalent monies to be used on IM/RM related books, DVDs and/or CPD!
How do I enter? Simply submit a written piece of work between 1500 and 2000 words in a MS Word compatible file by emailing our Groups Officer, Scott Sammons on [log in to unmask] Once the closing date has arrived, your application will be judged by a panel of IRM experts including Alison North herself. Don’t delay, apply today!
What do I write about? No theme is too wacky, no title too tall, as long as it is based around your issues, thoughts or experiences in Information and Records Management.
When will I find out? The winner will be informed before conference in time to allow them to make arrangement to attend conference but will be announced publicly at the Conference Gala Dinner Awards Ceremony, at which they will presented with an award certificate and trophy. Expect to hear from us between in March & April.
Closing Date: 28th February 2013.
Bring your best outfit, 2013 conference is the IRMS’s 30th Anniversary and everyone will be in their best bib and tucker! It’s set to be the best yet, so you definitely want to be there … and what’s more, you want to be there as an award winner!
Before I joined the IRMS in October I was the winner of the 2012 award. I was shocked and flattered to be selected for the New Professionals Award. I haven’t won anything before (not even bingo) so to receive an award for my thoughts on my profession were a complete shock. To this day I keep pinching myself and am eternally grateful to the IRMS Exec and Alison North for giving me this award and free attendance at conference 2012. Their support and knowledge during conference and since then has been amazing and invaluable. I think the award is a great way to encourage new talent in the industry and highly recommend people that are new to the area of Information and Records Management submit themselves for it. For those that haven’t been to conference before I highly recommend it, especially if you are a ‘new professional’. The people I met and the knowledge I gained & shared is invaluable. I am very much planning to attend next year for the 30th anniversary conference so will you be the next winner?
Many thanks,
Scott Sammons
