Dear Patrycja
The e-GMS and the PRO standard (now referred to as TNA's) were very closely related, though their relationship was complex and tortuous through various versions. The most recent version is e-GMS v3.1, published 2006, readily available from http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/+/http://www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/govtalk/schemasstandards/metadata/egms_31.aspx. And the fact that this url points to an archive is significant. Though I have never found anyone in government who will say so explicitly, e-GMS has been abandoned. An attempt to move to e-GMS v4 foundered a few years ago. The various versions of e-GMS were a valiant and (I hope) valuable early attempt, but the e-GMS is simply not helpful today for records management. A lot of learning has gone on since it came out, none of which is reflected in e-GMS. I'd strongly advise any Records Manager NOT to attempt to use it as a compliance standard. Hopefully you have identified some other use for it!

Subject: Metadata Standard
Dear List,
I am trying to locate the latest version of e-Government Metadata Standard. Could you please point me in the right direction?
Also I was looking at the document on TNA site: Requirements for Electronic Records Management Systems 2: Metadata Standard. This document was published in 2002. Has it been updated recently?
I would be very grateful for any responses.
Best Wishes,
Patrycja Duszynska
