Sorry Dom, but i read the comments as kind of OK, but not great. We've had proposals turned down with warmer comments from reviewers, and when we've been successful the reviews have been positively glowing. Like the man said "close; but no cigar".

Subject: [PSCI-COM] It's tough out there
Hi all
Just to illustrate the current state of the funding situation for Public Engagement...
I applied to get some funding from [redacted] recently for next summer's Oxford Festival of Nature. I just heard back from them to say that the application was unsuccessful, which is entirely fair enough. However, they did suggest in their email that I should read the reviewer's comments to understand why the application had been rejected.
So I did.
Here they are in full and verbatim:
"The primary focus of this project is to engage local communities to participate in an ecological survey of different forms of biota. By targeting school children, and through the various collaborative initiatives, this project will be important in encouraging a broad-based participation of local communities and different stakeholders. The outcome of this project may foster both a good working relationship and communication to a wider audience of the intended target group. Projects of this nature should therefore be encouraged and supported."
So my question for the PSCI-Com hive mind is as follows: does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can improve our application for next time?
Dom
