Dear All,
This Friday 23rd Nov (6pm-10pm) tap into the Pitt Rivers' webcam stream to enjoy a birds-eye-view of the torch light trail as part of the Christmas Light Night event.
Viewers will be able to listen to an exclusive playlist of BayAka music from the Louis Sarno archive showcasing some of the work from the Reel to Real work over the last 12 months.
Louis Sarno has been living with a BayAka community at Yandoumbé in the Central African Republic for almost thirty years. Over 1000 hours of recordings documenting the entire range of music making of a single community of hunter gatherers across more than a generation have been donated to the Pitt Rivers Museum. They have been digitised and catalogued and are now available to listen to for the first time. Expect to hear hunting songs, water drumming, and spirits conducting massed polyphonic choirs in the dark; earth bows, earth drumming and gorgeous geedal playing; laughter, animals, and women moving through the dark singing yeyi to enter people's dreams as they sleep in forest camps.
Please feel free to tune in to our webstream this Friday via our blogspot here

Kind regards,
Noel
