Subject: Re: [OCC-HEALTH] Defibs in the workplace
I've been reading this thread with interest and at the risk of being shot down in flames here's my thoughts. I was once asked the same question about the provision of AED's in the workplace for the organisation I was working in at the time. The line I took was to ask how many times over a 10 year period would one have been used. The answer was zero and the organisation took the view that in terms of risk the cost of providing them and maintaining them and providing ongoing training outweighed the benefit. Now morally I accept the argument that maybe they should be everywhere, one life saved etc, however what are you basing your evidence on as justification? Would the money be better spent teaching more people effective CPR to keep the person going until the paramedics arrive. I dont have the answers but makes you think doesnt it...
Jeremy
