Roisin,
The HSE have a shiftwork risk calculator that allows you to compare the risks of different shiftworking patterns.
http://www.hse.gov.uk/research/rrhtm/rr446.htm
The calculator and the associated report are authored by Simon Folkard - A good name to put into a search.
If you need more help, contact me off list.
Regards,
Richard.

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Shift patterns / health effects of shift work
Hi Everyone,
I wonder does anyone have some current medical evidence / facts and figures relating to health effects of shift work / night work, plus anything interesting regarding shift patterns (eg examples of patterns that would be evidenced as lower risk from a health perspective)?
I've got the recent RCN guidance (shift in the right direction), the HSE guidance on managing shift work and some other stuff but the most recent study I can find at the moment was done in 2005.
I'd be very grateful if anyone had some more recent information / evidence they'd be willing to share or point me towards.
Many thanks,
Roisin
