Hi Richard,
Just to add to Mike's reply, the Dearden's took over from the Marton family in the ownership of what had been vaccaries of Coverham Abbey in Coverdale and I think (Mike might correct me), Scale Park near Kettlewell in Wharfedale. They may have also owned similar property near Malham. I do not have connection with Townsend, but just a woolly thought, the Mine Adventurers of England tried to muscle in on mines in the area, but failed, (except for Swaledale), Townsend would have also known the Company.
Best Wishes
Ian

Subject: Yorkshire mining?
Dear colleagues
in the Court of King's Bench Entry Book of Judgements (KB 168/15 July 1758
Trinity Term) at Kew is mentioned a case involving James and Joseph Townsend
versus Toby Thrustout/Thrustant and Simon Deardon. I am wondering if this
involved a dispute over a mine. Does any one recognize Toby Thrustout/Thrustant
(fairly memorable) or Simon Deardon as being involved wiht mining in Yorkshire?
Yours Richard VandeWetering
