I'd like to draw your attention to a recent essay by Professor Jay Blumler, who looks back on his career in communication and political communication research. It's a fascinating read from one of the pioneers of communication research.

Jay G Blumler is emeritus professor of Public Communication at the University of Leeds and emeritus professor of Journalism at the University of Maryland. He is a fellow and former president of the International Communication Association. In 2006 Blumler was given a lifetime achievement award by the American Political Science Association. He is Honorary President of the PSA Media and Politics Group.

MeCCSA is the subject association for the field of media, communication and cultural studies in UK Higher Education. Membership is open to all who teach and research these subjects in HE institutions, via either institutional or individual membership. The field includes film and TV production, journalism, radio, photography, creative writing, publishing, interactive media and the web; and it includes higher education for media practice as well as for media studies.
