the IGRS Graduate Forum will commence its themed sessions this Thursday.
IGRS GRADUATE FORUM NOVEMBER SESSION

Organiser: Rebecca May Johnson (UCL)
Theme: Tracing the Effects of 20th century European Revolution and War in Language and Literature
Alexandra Hills (UCL): Masculinity, Violence, and Abjection in Curzio Malaparte's La Pelle and Gerhard Fritsch's Fasching.
- This paper will explore the effects of Austria's and Italy's military defeats during the Second World on gender, space, and the perception of the body.
Kenneth Cheng (UCL): Revolutionary writing in 1918: Capturing the politics of the avant garde.
- This paper uses Barthes' concept of 'revolutionary writing' to think through the political moment of the Avant Garde in Paris and Berlin, 1918
