Triad Resourcings client are looking to appoint a Web Hosting Support Engineer to improve the operational efficiency of the Hosting team & help with elimination of single points of failure including, in particular, the Hosting Team Manager’s responsibilities for infrastructure deployment, support, maintenance and administration.
Key duties
• Share operational duties with other more experienced team members.
• Respond to on-demand support requests
• Progressively, to take part in handover of operational and support duties from this team to
Operations & production staff
• To collaborate with others outside the team on operations and data workflow (including
24x7 support team, service desk, GIS specialists, IT, data production staff)
Required Skills and Experience
Essential
Experience of IT / Data Centre support and services including web-based applications Operation and/or installation of server hardware with Linux and/or Windows Server operating systems
Web server technology
Advantageous
ITIL training or experience an ITIL compliant support environment
Knowledge of geospatial data and services
Knowledge of relevant open source tools such as GDAL, MapServer, OGR
Knowledge of C, C++, Java, Database (Oracle, PostGres, MySQL, SQL server) especially in Geospatial applications
Knowledge of Bourne shell, PERL or other scripting languages
VMWare
Data networking and SAN technologies
Information Security solutions
Document management / data management solutions
