Dear all,
Sorry for re-posting this. Any feedback would be great.
- Why the GM template created by fslvbm_2_template should be symmetrical?
- Earlier (https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A2=ind1102&L=FSL&P=R12745&I=-3&d=No+Match%3BMatch%3BMatches), it was suggested two articles using symmetrical templates to prevent from biasing the results. However, both of these articles looked for interhemispheric asymmetries, so it is clear, that they used symmetrical templates, because an asymmetric (i.e. standard) template could enhance the asymmetries of the original data set.
- But, if we don't want to investigate interhemispheric asymmetries, just look at the differences in the volumes of two groups or we want to correlate the GM density with a certain variable? Why we need a symmetrical template in those cases?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Gabor
