Dear colleagues,
Brill/Martinus Nijhoff is launching a new book series on legal questions
related to access and benefit-sharing. The series will include international
(public and private) law studies as well as
national/comparative/transnational law studies on innovative ways to foster
access and benefit-sharing arrangements between governments, between
government and local or indigenous communities, as well as between private
individuals or entities. The series will also be open to studies in other
disciplines or inter-disciplinary studies as long as they are specifically
aimed to inform legal analysis and/or law-making. More information on the
series can be found at:
http://www.brill.com/publications/legal-studies-access-and-benefit-sharing.
The series will of course include publications on the 2010 Nagoya Protocol
on Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) under the Convention on Biological
Diversity (see attached flyer with information on the first two books in the
series). It will also include studies on other ABS instruments and processes
concerning genetic resources and the traditional knowledge of indigenous
peoples (International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and
Agriculture, on-going work by the FAO Commission on Genetic Resources for
Food and Agriculture, WIPO negotiations, World Health Organisation?s
Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Framework, etc).
In addition, the series will also explore other areas where regulatory
questions related to access (access to biological resources, access to land
or natural resources) and to benefit-sharing have emerged or may be emerging
(human rights, climate change, forests, oceans, etc).
We are therefore looking for book proposals and would be delighted to hear
from you about any preliminary idea or work-in-progress that may fit into
the series. Also, please spread the word with any interested colleagues of
yours.
With best regards,
