Salary £31,076-£35,202 p.a.
Fixed term contract until 31 March 2014.
The British Library hold's one of the most extensive and important collections of historical archives in the country, including a growing collection of contemporary archives. This post has been funded until 31 March 2014 to work primarily on 20th and 21st century archives, particularly relating to politics and public life. Tasks will include contributing to the acquisitions programme, cataloguing and collection management, answering on-site and remote enquiries and promoting the collections to a range of audiences.
You will have an excellent knowledge of modern British history and experience of undertaking historical research. You will have either a formal archive qualification or demonstrable experience of working with modern historical archives in a professional context. You will have good IT skills and will be able to work independently and meet deadlines. Experience of managing archive collections within a research library or similar environment would be an advantage.
