PhD funding opportunities in Social Anthropology at Manchester
Thinking of doing a PhD in social anthropology? Need funding? Manchester Anthroology has a number of funding opportunities for postgraduate doctoral programmes.
* Manchester Anthropology normally awards 2 studentships per year, funded by the ESRC North West Doctoral Training Centre<http://www.nwdtc.ac.uk/> (NWDTC). These studentships can include a one-year research-training masters programme. Applicants to Social Anthropology programmes who want to be considered for DTC funding should adhere to the School of Social Sciences application deadline of which is 17 January 2013. More detailed information about the DTC and the allocation and application process can be found at the NWDTC's website (www.nwdtc.ac.uk).
* The North West DTC also has a Language-Based Area Studies (LBAS) pathway, which is inter-disciplinary and can include social anthropology students who plan to work on Latin America and the Caribbean, the Arab World, and Russia and Eastern Europe (subject to the availability of appropriate supervision). Such applicants should apply for a place on a Social Anthropology programme and adhere to the School deadline. The LBAS pathway has a specific allocation of up to three studentships.
* Social Anthropology at Manchester has University studentships available for PhD students, with grants covering home fees and a maintenance grant. Overseas candidates can also apply for grants to cover the difference between home and international fees.
