The seminar will explore how librarians and architects are developing new strategies over how library buildings are used, designed and occupied for multi-purpose activity. Sharing with partners, joint-use buildings, flexible spaces, the integration of digital technology will
all be topics in the arena for presentations and discussion by leading international speakers.
This one day seminar is organised by Eurolis, the consortium of librarians of European Cultural Institutes in London, and with the assistance of ILIG and the IFLA Buildings and Equipment Section. The speakers come from library services across Europe and include:
Olaf Eigenbrodt, Senior Head of User Services and Advisor for Planning and Construction at State and University Library Hamburg.
Karen Latimer OBE, Medical & Healthcare Librarian, Queen's College, Belfast. Editor of the IFLA Building and Equipment Guidelines and Chair of the UK Designing Libraries Advisory Board.
Alfonso Muñoz Cosme, Director of the Spanish Institute for Cultural Heritage
Ana Bela Pereira Martins, Librarian adviser at School Libraries Network Agency
