The Department of Geography and the Munk School of Global Affairs at
the University of Toronto invite applications for a tenure-stream
position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Economic
Geography with expertise in Innovation, Technology, and Regional
Economic Development. The appointment will begin on July 1, 2013.
We seek a dynamic scholar with an excellent track record whose work
displays evidence of a strong interest in understanding how
institutions, particularly research organizations shape innovation,
technology and the dynamics of economic growth. Scholars with an
understanding of the influence of institutions and actors at the city,
region, national, and international levels will be of particular
interest. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Geography, or a related
discipline and a superior teaching record. Salary will be commensurate
with qualifications and experience. Evidence of excellence in teaching
and research is required.
The successful candidate will be cross-appointed to the Department of
Geography (51%) and the Munk School of Global Affairs (49%) and will
teach in both units at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The
Masters of Global Affairs degree at the Munk School is an exciting,
new professional graduate degree designed to equip students with
knowledge and skills for careers in government and international
institutions, the private sector, and NGOs.
