Personally I use dropbox; mainly so I can work on my Scouting stuff from anywhere! And also have used GoogleDocs to share docs with my son and for the forms interface to their spreadsheet when collecting responses. I have issues with people I am trying to share stuff with saying they have to sign-up, never understood why I just think they don't read what it says properly!
Now that Google Docs is becoming Google Drive is seems much easier to work with sing the client app rather than purely the webservice.
Of course what you have to bear in mind with them all is that they do not guarantee not to loose your stuff so should never be the sole copies of the material.

My concern, though, would be that I'm not convinced either is that much easier to use than Google Docs - what did your users find was 'too hard' about it?
