SMART (Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology) invites applications for the position of a Postdoctoral Associate in traffic modeling and simulation in its campus in Singapore.
The Postdoctoral Associate will work on various aspects of developing a mobility simulation platform integrating demands for transportation, vehicular emissions, land use and energy consumption. The research will involve developing the microscopic behavioral models as well as travel demand models and integrating them into the simulation software. The Postdoctoral Associate will also participate in the design and development of the software for the agent-based microscopic traffic simulator.
This position is part of the SimMobility research group. SimMobility is a multi-disciplinary team that focuses on the design and development of simulation tools and behavioral models to support evaluation of future urban transportation scenarios. The research is done in collaboration between researches at the SMART campus in Singapore and at MIT.
Candidates must have a doctoral degree in transportation or related fields. They need to show a demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
(a) Large-scale traffic simulation,
(b) Driving and travel behavior and demand modeling
Knowledge in the following areas will be desired:
(a) Intelligent transportation systems,
(b) Traffic engineering, control and management.
Qualified candidates with other similar backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
Prior experience in programming simulation models or large software applications is an advantage. Positive work attitude, good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently and in multi-disciplinary teams are necessary.
The postdoctoral associate will work under supervision of: Prof. Moshe Ben-Akiva, MIT.
