For EMI the basic statement was that each major release would be supported for two years, hence EMI 1 goes out of support next spring. However the EMI project is ending then anyway, so future support will depend on the resources of each individual product team. Also the intention is to move most of the middleware to EPEL so there will no longer be a concept of major releases, just a moving high water mark of whatever is currently in EPEL - which presumably means that if sites lag behind they risk needing to make quite a big step if there's a security patch. In theory there is supposed to be a final EMI 3 major release but I'm not sure if it will be much different to EMI 2 in practice.
So far UMD has just repackaged the EMI releases, but there seems to be a suggestion that it will maintain an independent repository, in particular to be able to roll back to a previous version if problems are found. However I don't think there's any intention to branch anything from the EPEL version.

To a large extent that's the same problem as the WN, but so far it seems to have got less attention. In some recent meeting I asked whether we could at least get a UI in afs as we have for glite but I don't think I got a clear answer.
