It should mostly work OK with 4D data. The main hurdle is to figure
out that each individual volume needs to be selected via the user
interface. To do this, you need to change the "1" in the file
selector to (for example) "1:1000". This will allow different volumes
within a file to be selected (although sometimes, SPM asks for NIfTI
files, rather than individual volumes, in which case there is no "1"
to change).

Providing you gunzip them, because SPM does not work with gzipped images.
