STFC Council Membership
Six of the seven UK Research Councils are currently seeking applications from
leading academics and industrialists to serve on its Councils. STFC is
advertising for an industrialist. STFC is a non-departmental public body
principally funded through the Science Budget by the Department for Business,
Innovation and Skills (BIS). Council members are appointed by the Secretary of
State for BIS who sets broad guidelines within which Council members are expected
to work. STFC are encouraging suitable individuals from the community to apply
for membership. In particular STFC encourage applications from groups
currently under-represented on the Council. The Council plays a vital role in
formulating the policy, priorities and strategy of the STFC and the stewardship
of their budget, key strategic objectives and targets.
