HIV and biomedical prevention in the UK: re-framing the social science agenda.
Monday 17th December 2012, London.
The introduction of new clinical HIV prevention technologies (NPTs) signals vastly increased involvement of biomedical and clinical sciences in HIV prevention. However, social sciences also play a major role. NPT roll-out will require evaluations, studies on the management of sexual risk and intimacy as well as investigations of the impacts of greater clinical involvement in intimate and sexual lives.
The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the University of Greenwich are jointly organising this interactive workshop comprised of social scientists with expertise in HIV, harm reduction and health promotion. The purpose of the workshop is to consolidate social research priorities related to NPTs in the UK context.
Attendance is limited to social scientists with a demonstrable interest or expertise in this area.

This symposium is funded by the Foundation for the Sociology of Health and Illness
