medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Thanks so much for the clarification. I remember being excited when the
news came out. I'm even more excited now that it's real, and I hope you'll
let us know when your article on the process comes out.
All best,
Erica

medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear medieval-religion colleagues,
Thanks, Genevra, for sharing this news with the list, and thanks, Erica, for
your query.
The decision to proceed with canonizing and doctorizing Hildegard has been
delivered in dribs and drabs over the past year or so, but the canonization
actually took place a few months ago and the intention to make Hildegard a
doctor was announced in late May. The actual doctorization took place on
Sunday, in St Peter's Square.
I was present, as I'm writing an article on Hildegard's canonization and
related matters.
There will be an article and photographs in this weekend's The Tablet, the
English Catholic weekly.
There will be a huge conference on Hildegard in Mainz in late February -
early March 2013.
Best wishes, George
