Dear All
We are currently advertising for a Collections Database Manager as our current manager has landed another role higher up in collections database management elsewhere in London.
It's advertised as a 2-year post as with all roles at the Gallery but the requirement will continue as we strive to complete the cataloguing of the Gallery's Collections and enhance our content in depth. Working with just one assistant, it's ideal for someone who wishes to make that first step on the ladder of line and team management but still wants to handle all the interesting day-to-day data work related to tasks and project developments. The successful applicant must be hands-on and really have an aptitude with databases and developing database-driven solutions. We use Mimsy XG, FileMaker, Access and Crystal Reports in a very wide variety of ways and for most of the Gallery's different departments in some capacity.
The Collections Database Management team sits within the Digital Programmes umbrella as much of the team's work on our collection of 330,000 portraits (185,000 portraits catalogued to date) sees its way on to public-facing digital developments, including the Portrait Explorer, our in-Gallery public access touchscreen service, the Gallery's search the collection facility on the website and specialised websites for our digital print and image licensing services.
Closing date is 9.00am on Tuesday 23 October, 2012.
