You can see just how true that is by the policies of the present government.
I was reading the 1834 Poor Law Report the other day and whole sections of it could have been written by members of the present government.

Maybe philosophers are not often who historians often call to mind, but as Jorge Agustín Nicolás Ruiz de Santayana y Borrás (known as George Santayana) said "He who forgets history is doomed to repeat it."...
We can only hope that somebody in a position of influence somewhere, will soon proffer the rejoinder "and those who remember history should record and preserve it."... I wish I'd said that - Oh, I did...!!!
