Open Access theses and dissertations.
Students often wish to trace theses and dissertations as part of their literature review
This posting is about dissertations. These are often excellent sources of information about the latest research. Did you know you can access and download recent theses from nations worldwide.
EthOS <http://ethos.bl.uk/>
http://ethos.bl.uk/
Is working to build a centralised store of digitised theses from UK higher education institutions. Users can register free of charge and download increasing numbers of full text PhD dissertations covering all subject areas. Note not all universities are covered. LSE staff and students should continue to use the comprehensive Index to theses database <https://catalogue.lse.ac.uk/Record/1151105> . This covers titles submitted since 1715 and links through to ethos where full text is on offer.
Other countries are also developing national services see our free listing on delicious <http://delicious.com/lselibrary/theses>
good examples include: http://delicious.com/lselibrary/theses
The South African national E theses portal http://www.netd.ac.za/
TEL: thèses-en-ligne <http://delicious.com/redirect?url=http%3A//tel.archives-ouvertes.fr/>

DART-Europe E-theses Portal (DEEP) <http://www.dart-europe.eu/basic-search.php> http://www.dart-europe.eu/basic-search.php
This service (which is currently underdevelopment) allows you to search for full text research theses from a growing number of European countries. Note it does not include all national universities.
Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations. <http://www.ndltd.org/find>

Excellent starting point for tracing the existence of online theses. Maintains a searchable catalogue of e-theses and a directory of links to key websites.
