More anecdotal comments from me.
In most cases our e-books can not be transferred to the e-readers that
students have bought and the text books that our students need for most
subjects are not available for them to buy for their e-readers.
This has caused disappointment for our students and also difficulties for
staff (who often have never seen the type of e-reader the student brings
in).
In addition, I have heard staff say that our e-books are not available via
mobile devices, and yet I have accessed our ebooks via my android phone
(albeit not via an app), so confusion abounds.
It is really difficult to guess whether, within a very short space of time,
the shortcomings of e-readers and other mobile devices will be addressed
and whether this means we do not need to provide as many PCs or OPACs
within the Library - but these are crucial questions that need answers.
