THEORY OF THE NOVEL. Literary History as Cultural Critique
Keynote Speaker: Prof. Guido Mazzoni (University of Siena)
2 November, 10.00 am - 5.00 pm
The study day is devoted to the modern novel, analysed in a comparative and theoretical perspective, with particular reference to the fin de siècle novel. It is organized by Italian at SMLC, in collaboration with French at SMLC and with the School of English. Its main aim is to stir the debate on the theory of the novel within the Faculty of Arts, and to discuss the emerging ideas with an international scholar in the field, Guido Mazzoni (see Mazzoni's latest monograph, Teoria del romanzo, 2012). All colleagues and research students working in this area, in Leeds and outside Leeds, are warmly invited to participate. Specifically in order to encourage the exchange of ideas, consistent time is devoted to debate on individual papers and to the final roundtable.
Participation is free and open to everyone. For catering purposes, we invite you to confirm your participation by casting your vote on the event doodle pool http://doodle.com/43xmhb4dpzx28376, or alternatively by emailing Alessio Baldini, by Friday 26 October: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
