GIS Analyst - Berkshire - £Neg - 6 Months Initially
My client is on the process of adding a temporary contractor to there team. We are looking for an experienced GIS Analyst, the role will be initially be 6 months but will extend for a long period.
Key tasks include:
•Interrogation of a large databases, production of key management spatial statistics and reports, both regular and ad-hoc.
•Applying regular implementation of Ordnance Survey Mastermap Change Only Updates, satellite and aerial imagery update files.
•Performing spatial data audits and quality control measures to ISO standards, land change detection and application of change intelligence.
•Recommending and executing modifications to GIS applications in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
•Developing and maintain business rule protocols, GIS manuals and systems documentation and desk instructions.
•Providing GIS guidance and 2nd line support on GI Policy; act as a point of contact for GIS/land related technical issues.
Required Skills
1.In depth and demonstrable GIS software skills, proficient with cartographic presentation techniques, geodatabases, geoprocessing techniques, map layouts and methods for delivering effective map presentations. Experience of working with ESRI ArcGIS 9.3+ and ETL packages such as Snowflake or Safe FME server/desk top. Programming experience using ArcObjects within a .NET development environment (or Java or Python) would be preferable although demonstrable skills in macro development/scripting would also be acceptable. Strong Oracle Spatial database skills (SQL and PL/SQL including 10g & 11g enhancements) and a detailed knowledge of Ordnance Survey MasterMap product and its management (e.g Change Only Update) within Oracle.
2.Demonstrable competence in the use of database & ESRI map projects – including defining required inputs/outputs for ESRI projects, documenting internal processing steps, running automation scripts & review logs, archiving interim & final ESRI project files.
3.Proven experience and understanding of a wide range of spatial business requirements and supporting their transformation into solutions suitable for GI enterprise-wide implementation, including an understanding of non-functional impacts, ranging from system performance to organisational changes.
4.Proven ability to apply technical GI knowledge in order to analyse complex spatial, imagery and data model problems, using photo-interpretation and geo-processing to quickly identify key issues from complex information, separating essential from non-essential, and producing workable solutions.
Applicants must hold relevant degree or equivalent in Geography; Land Management; Surveying; Geographic Information Systems /Science or relevant land/IT discipline.
