Deborah Holmes, whose book on the pedagogue, educational reformer and journalist Eugenie Schwarzwald's life has just come out with the Austrian publisher Residenz, will speak about her biographical research of Schwarzwald's life and work and her influential role in Austria the first half of the 20th century. Deborah Holmes's work resonates greatly with the Austrian public, for Eugenie Schwarzwald represents not only a culturally interesting but also strongly political and critical female perspective on a highly turbulent period of Austrian history.
