Subject: Jonathan Garnett Open Lecture (T&L), QA080 5pm on Wednesday, 07 November2012.
The next Open Lecture in Learning and Teaching will take place on Wednesday 7 November in Queen Anne Court 080 from 17:00-18:00.
Professor Jonathan Garnett (Middlesex University) will speak on: "Work Based Learning: Opportunities and challenges for higher education institutions"
Jonathan Garnett is the Director of the Institute for Work Based Learning (IWBL). Jonathan has twenty years' experience at the leading edge of the development and operation of work based learning partnerships at higher education level and has worked with public, private and third sector organisations in the UK and internationally. His current research interests include the development of higher education practice and structures to support employer responsive provision.
University work-based learning (WBL) programmes are often represented by academia as an appropriate response to the needs of the “knowledge driven economy” (eg Boud and Solomon 2001). The presentation draws upon 20 years of operational practice at Middlesex University to consider the opportunities and challenges WBL offers to higher education institutions and considers particularly the contribution of WBL to the structural capital of the university.
We hope to see you there.
