Wish I was a bit closer! Souds like a great idea for a community set up - I will follow with interest - would love to get something happening here.
Cheers Janet

Subject: [DRAWING-RESEARCH] seeking artists for new drawing studio
Hello
I am in the process of setting up a studio based charity in Bermondsey South London which will deliver arts activities to the general public. Emphasis will be on the use of drawing as a tool to reach more vulnerable people in the community and to develop ideas that can be integrated into classroom activities.
The idea is to bring in about 25 artists to share the space who have an interest in drawing and developing drawing based educational work. I am keen that the studio becomes a space where ideas are shared as opposed to so many current artists' studios which can leave everyone feeling very isolated and disconnected from the real world. The structure will be along the lines of an art school set-up with group crits and opportunities to lead and take part in drawing workshops. Part of the concept is to develop creative ways for engaging with different community groups within the space. Regular exhibitions of studio artists' work will be held alternating with exhibitions of work made with the community groups.
We will be dividing the space up so that everyone has a small individual area to work in. Cost will be from £100 to £150 a month.
I am looking for inventive people who enjoy collaborating with others and who are interested in working with all kinds of community groups. Experience in running educational projects is not essential at this stage.
If you are interested please reply to me at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> with CV and examples of your work. I can let you know more details then.
Best wishes
Robin Whitmore
