Hi all,
This is very heartening - has come at just the right time. The pressures of Uni life here at the moment are some what demoralising - some enthusiasm from other drawers is just what I need! An Australian pod sounds like a great idea! My research started by observing a very successful creative community - the ukulele phenonenon...which sounds odd, but it has succeeded in introducing millions of non musicians to 'instant music making'. This then developed into a question - why can't a visual arts community be developed using the same inclusive fun approach? Why is my local drawing group shrinking (and aging)? Why don't my design students draw any more?
You may well already know the answers to these and many more:)
Cheers Janet

Hello ladies
I too am a practising artist and academic at the University of Newcastle Australia where I teach painting and drawing. It would be interesting to develop an Australian pod where discussion can take place in relation to drawing as an expanded field of practice led research.

Clearly this forum has served to put us all in touch, but I agree that a real coming together would be such a worthy thing. Can we organise a symposium for some time in the future. Can we perhaps just begin by talking about what we would like to see happen, based - or not - on our research interests?

I know what you mean about all the action on the other half of the world, wouldn't it be great if there was more happening here? I am part way through my doctorate and would be happy to start a communication with you if interested.

I wish I was closer to all the goings on in the UK. I feel quite isolated in my part of Australia. I am sure there are fabulous things happening here - please let me know if you are a member in the Sydney area. Thanks for sending this website link Jac. Hoping to get to a DRN conference next year.
