'We have been asked by a working group of the National Cycle Forum to prepare a "business case" for maintaining a national data set of cycling infrastructure and routes. This data is used in journey planners (Transport Direct and CycleStreets for example) maps and local authority asset management. It is a very detailed geographical database of cycling information in every English town of more than 30,000 people.
I wondered if you knew of any academics working in cycling related fields who might also find comparable data useful of such things as the density of cycle networks in cities such as Bristol and Birmingham and Bradford, which could be matched with accident or health statistics. I would be grateful if you could either pass this message on to anyone working in this area or ask them to contact me for more information.
Best wishes.
Martin
