BCLA Autumn Graduate Reception 2012
This year's BCLA Autumn Graduate Reception will be taking place on
Tuesday, 16th October, in the Gordon Room (G34), Senate House,
University of London, at 5.30 pm.
We will be featuring an address from Professor Matthew Bell (Professor
of German and Comparative Literature, KCL) on "The Future of
Thematology", plus three exciting postgraduate papers:
Konstantina Georgiou, Goldsmiths: "Representations of WWI in 20th
Century Literature and 21st Century Cinema: The Past Experienced, The
Past Remembered"
Nichola Smalley, UCL: "'Written for the Mouth and the Microphone': Why
is Rap Different to Literature?"
Sara Marzagora, SOAS: "Narrating the Ethiopian Diaspora in Italy: The
Heritage of Amharic Literature in a New Postcolonial Setting"
We'll follow this with a wine reception and an opportunity for
informal discussion. It is a great chance to get to know other
postgraduate and early career researchers working in Comparative
Literature, as well as to hear new research, so we hope to see many of
you there.
