BREAKING NEWS
Sad to hear this news, as I burn the proverbial midnight oil, trying to
catch up with emails, whilst fighting a losing battle with mosquitoes in
Accra – actually, a scheme providing free mosquito nets just ended. It
seemed earmarked for the “poor” – not sure what that means, when even
shacks around me have satellite dishes, and almost everyone I see seems
glued to their mobile phone, either talking, or watching something on it!
Anyway, back to the Centerprise case. I was at a small community meeting
convened by the CEO Mr Emeavor late last year, where he showed us
documentation showing that funding had been awarded (I believe it may have
been £50k) for Centerprise to buy their building many years ago. In the
same funding documentation was funding for organisations such as IRR
(institute of Race Relations?), which Mr Emeavor said had been received by
that organisation, but his organisation never received the funding
allocated for Centerprise.
In my emails to the Hackney mayor and councillors in supporting
Centerprise, I mentioned this document and the said funding, but sadly I
did not receive an electronic version of this crucial document to send over.
I wonder if this crucial document was presented during the court
proceedings, and whether it had any impact?
I’m heartened to know the fight continues with an appeal on the horizon…
