Canterbury Cathedral Archives is a busy record office which preserves the historic archives of the Cathedral, dating back to the 8th century, together with the records of the City of Canterbury, the Diocese of Canterbury and parishes in East Kent, and other related collections. The Cathedral Library holds some 30,000 books and pamphlets printed before 1900, and an expanding modern collection.
We are seeking a conservator to lead on all aspects of care for the collections of the Archives and Library.
Candidates will be required to:
Develop conservation and preservation policies and strategies, carry out conservation treatment and book-binding and provide estimates for work on items from outside the collections.
You will need a recognised qualification in book and paper conservation; you may be a member of a professional body in conservation and have ICON accreditation,
or be working towards accreditation.
