Could anyone please enlighten me as to the exact meaning of the term 'hutch' in the context
of 18th century water power? Also, was the term 'penstock' used at that time for just the
trough immediately spilling onto a wheel, or might it be also used for a longer section of
raised launder running from the dam to the wheel?
Thanks!
Tim
