Dear colleagues,
We've been working with the Financial Times on a story about cuts to R&D
spending by Government departments - i.e. individual departmental R&D
budgets as opposed to the overall Science Budget.
The numbers make a compelling case, but the FT would like some specific
examples of the kind of impacts these cuts have had 'on the ground'.
Do you know of any examples of how cuts to research budgets have affected
either a Government department's use of science and evidence in their work,
or an academic team's viability, etc?
Examples might include Defra's cuts leading to poorer evidence, MoD's cuts
having an impact on their procurement chain, etc.
Unfortunately the deadline on this is pretty tight - we'd like to know
ideally by the end of the day, but by the end of Saturday at the very
latest. Do call me if you need any further guidance on what we're looking
for.
