Places are available on the following courses:
Data Mining for Practitioners, 29 October 2012, Andrea Ahlemeyer-Stubbe
The increasing use of computer technology in many areas of economic, scientific and social life is resulting in vast collections of digital data. These data pools can be used to obtain a higher quality of information than that obtained from simple database inquiries. This is where data mining comes in. With data mining techniques, it is possible to "mine" data pools for "hidden" knowledge. Data mining provides a major competitive advantage in view of the key role played by knowledge and knowledge management in the development of future markets. This course provides an overview of data mining processes including critical success factors and practical examples.
Developing and Testing Survey Questions, 15 November 2012, Pamela Campanelli
This one day training event is designed to give participants a good grounding in the essentials of questionnaire design, from both the survey experimental literature and practical experience. It will look at individual survey questions and the questionnaire as a whole for both interview and self-completion questionnaires. The course also includes industry standards for testing survey questions, covering traditional methods to more recent innovations in question testing (e.g. expert review, systematic forms appraisal, respondent debriefing, behaviour coding, cognitive interviewing, and focus groups for question testing).
Multilevel Modelling, 6 & 7 December 2012, Harvey Goldstein and George Leckie
