Skipping back a bit to a answer this one: I think that is how I interpreted
it too, that the "title proper of series" explicitly states it is a
transcription field (equivalent to the use of 490 in AACR2) whereas the
related work is always given as an authorised access point (ie the
authorised heading as in the series authority record). The two things are
quite different (transcription of what the resource says about series
versus a link in a standardised form to a related work, with an explanation
of what kind of relationship it is, in this case "In series")
