WIth our site at http://dartmouthmuseum.org/ it is impossible to judge properly. The site and domain name went live on 29 July 2011 and we were promoting it hard then. This means that the figures are not representative. We still promote hard, but using what one might call 'normal' techniques, as opposed to previous 'emergency boost power enabled' techniques. The stats show similar visitor numbers this year to that period last year. One might conclude that there has been a dip because of the New Site status last year.
Comparing to the immediately prior period we have had a 34% drop in web visitors. The one thing that is apparent form our stats is that the curves are smoother during the olympic period.
We should also not discount the current Paralympic period and any effect on web and physical visitors.
Our chairman of trustees follows this forum and I'll leave it to him to decide whether our visitor trend through the doors is something he wishes to release into the wild.
