Dear List Members,
Cambridge University Press is changing a number of products in its online
suite
Changes will be made to
· Cambridge Histories Online
· Cambridge Companions Online
· Shakespeare Survey Online
Why The Change?
We are moving these individual product sites to a single
platform. This move reflects a desire to enhance the user experience by
making the look and feel of the sites more intuitive, promoting cross
searchability between products and adding more personalisation features.
New Features
· Dynamic search results: at the book and chapter level
· Shibboleth Compliance
· Athens Compliance
· Greater personalisation functionality- users will be able to save
searches, create groups, and add notes
· Cross searchability- between our other products including
Cambridge Books Online and Cambridge Journals Online
· Tools to Share- Recommend this book to a librarian, bookmark, &
share
· RSS/email alerts- for content, MARC records, new features, &
general news
· Forthcoming titles list- found on the homepage
When?
Cambridge Histories Online, Cambridge Companions Online, & Shakespeare
Survey Online will all be migrated to the new platform by the end November
2012. The new sites will go live at this time.
Current Subscribers
What current subscribers need to know:
· Logins & URLs- we will be migrating all account data for existing
subscribers (including logins, IPs and URL redirects), thus no action is
required from you.
· Site Overlap- The existing sites will be available for two months
following the launch of the new sites.
· MARC Records- You will not need to reload MARC records into your
library catalogue. We are setting up URL redirects for both standard
Cambridge Companions Online URLS and DOIs.
· Guided Tours- Training for the new site will be available in
October.
