Rice University seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in sociocultural anthropology at the level of assistant professor with a specific focus on medical anthropology. We particularly welcome applicants with additional expertise in semiotic or linguistic theory. The geographical area of specialization is open, but candidates who work in Brazil or Asia will receive special consideration. Applicants should have a strong command of social and cultural theory, an excellent record of scholarly activities and publication (appropriate to career stage) and a demonstrated commitment to innovative field research.
Applicants should complement and enhance existing departmental research strengths and be prepared to contribute to Rice Anthropology's distinctive culture of graduate training and undergraduate teaching.
