Research Associate in Urban Sustainability and Resilience
Duties and Responsibilities
We expect the successful candidate to develop and undertake a programme of high quality research which contributes to the aims and objectives of the Centre for Urban Sustainability and Resilience. You would also be expected to actively promote the Centre and our research, to engage in knowledge exchange activities with our industrial partners, and to contribute to our programme of outreach activities and to the wider activities of the Centre as appropriate.
The post is available for 2 years in the first instance
The expected start date is 1 December 2012. The post must be taken up by Jan 2013.
Key Requirements
The candidate is likely to have a PhD in an area which has application to urban sustainability and resilience problems such as engineering, town planning, architecture, or physical sciences. They should have demonstrated a capability of initiating and conducting exciting research that challenges conventional thinking and approaches. They should be an enthusiastic researcher with the aptitude for applied research, keen to work with industry and to explore new ways of engaging the public in science and engineering.
The successful candidate must have been completed their viva (PhD or EngD) before they start the in the role. Only candidates who have already submitted their thesis will be considered for interview. To be eligible for the post the applicant must have received support for their PhD/EngD studies from EPSRC in the form of fees and/or stipend. This may have been through a doctoral training centre, doctoral training grant, case or project award.
