Coming a bit late to this, but I support the sentiments expressed by colleagues.

I tend to lurk these days, but consider the ability to discuss issues properly in an environment like this is a key benefit to belonging.

No-one should be made to feel they have to leave.

If pro-active moderation is required-so be it.

I have read this thread with interest. I am not going to comment on the
thread content - I think that has been done to death.

However, I will echo those that say that this is a forum for DP
professionals and not a place for people to air their grievances,
particularly when it gets personal. I am wondering where the moderators are
at this time?

Lee, please do not leave the list. The list will be worse off without you
and hopefully normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

In this case I agree with Jane, the list is for discussion, when it gets
personal it is more than just a tad unprofessional.

Lee you are a valued member of list I hope you can find a way to reconsider.

Lee

I hadn't followed this thread but I concur that moderators need to step in
in these circumstances. It's very sad if some individuals have "upset" a
list member to the extent that he feels he has to unsubscribe.
Personal "attacks" are unnecessary and a tad unprofessional.

Lee, thank you for all the help you've given to me in the past. At times of
need you have been a very reassuring voice.

Take care.

And so after another very adult response below I say goodbye to the list...
Mods, time to undertake some education before the list is totally devalued.

Particularly given the childish and personal attack I have also received off
list.

Thanks to all who have helped and engaged in interesting and useful
exchanges and hopefully our paths will cross again.

I'd love to know where I am siding with the authority, I have no knowledge
of the subject and if I am honest I have enough things to do at work that I
haven't got the time to analyse the possible failings of another authority
but given I am not towing your line I am obviously in the wrong and have no
valid opinion!!

Yes your Hillsborough analogy was tasteless and I stand by that,
particularly as someone who knows several survivors and a couple of the
families of the 96.

At this precise moment in time I am seriously considering unsubscribing from
the list as these kind of personal crusades are not what the list is about.

Thanks Chris. Lee made a good point about it not being an FoI site, which I
accept. As for the reference to Hillsborough, I feel it was justified.

Given the Council's introduction of the above illegal 4 week delay on
assigning care packages, done to save money, and the death of the lady
concerned, we have a similar situation, although obviously not on the same
levels of seriousness or magnitude - which I did say in the relevant post.

For the family of this lady (and possibly others yet to be uncovered) and
given the council's ensuing denials, obfuscation, minimisation, removal to
another department and failure to make the person responsible accountable,
then the rapid removal of the illegal delaying policy - all backed by a
complete lockdown on responding to FoI requests, I'd say contributor Lee is
way out of order in accusing ME of being "tasteless".

In fact I'm worried that should his sympathies still be lying with this
ruthless organisation and with the FoI people in situ, bending to its will
and continuing to prop it up, then he needs to have a sit down and a hard
think:
