Wow. That must be one of the strangest posts to a public forum I've ever seen. Weird. Stranger still, a subsequent one agreeing with it !
So, in summary.... A poorly-resourced council unfairly smears 10 of its own members of the public via a press release / councillors' report in order to mask its own ongoing abysmal performance on Freedom of Information. With no justification for doing this within the FOIA. It also fails on self-awareness, comparing itself to "other councils", but forgetting that it is a learning disabled abuser with 3 suspended directors, including the FoI boss himself, along with £10 million in public money squandered in associated scandals. Public relations and reputation management is crayoned all over it.
Then, a salaried Information Governance person, vested interest in hand, bypasses the bleeding obvious and rushes to the defence of the Wirral FoI team, accusing Wirral requesters of being "abusive" to the historically abusive council's FoI team.
Nice.
Is it any wonder we never, ever had a Data / Information Governance whistleblower?
No. Doing that takes courage, honesty and principles.
