Applications are invited for a full-time, post-doctoral, Research Associate to provide methodological support (study design, planning, administrative support, database management, data collation and analysis) to the Ageing Well project that will be undertaken within a National Institute for Health Research School for Public Health Research (NIHR SPHR) funded programme of research.
The Cambridge Institute for Public Health (CIPH) has recently been selected as a member of the newly founded NIHR SPHR in an open competition for academic institutions with a proven track record in applied research and evaluative practice in public health. The NIHR SPHR will place emphasis on what works practically, can be applied across the whole country and better meets the needs of policy makers, practitioners and the public.
The post would suit a statistician or health services research methodologist with an interest in statistics, population modelling, data management and analysis. The post-holder will be expected to provide biostatistical support to other studies within the public health research group led by Professor Carol Brayne at the CIPH. This will involve the analysis of existing and accumulating datasets, sample size planning, and multilevel modelling of longitudinal data. It is expected that the post-holder will contribute to applications to ethics committees, and produce statistical reports for internal study planning and review, external dissemination, and for funding bodies. Excellent communication skills are needed to support dissemination to lay, clinical, and research audiences.
The post is being created within the public health research group led by Professor Carol Brayne with a team of comprising academic clinicians, academics, health economists, clinical researchers, and clinicians.
