This is a final reminder for registration to the workshop 'New Fuels, New Rules?', which is open to anyone with an interest in low carbon vehicle technology or policies, or the ethics of transport, public policy or climate change and will take place on Monday 10th September at the University of Leeds.
It is designed to enable discussion on:
- - The role of the personal passenger car in a low carbon future.
· - How new technologies and their supportive policies will impact on the opportunity of owning a car, and the utility it provides us.
· - Who will be most affected by the technologies and policies.
· - How we can work together to minimise impacts.
Speakers are already confirmed from the Energy Technologies Institute, Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership and Royal Institute of Philosophy, and there will be a facilitated discussion on the issues raised throughout the day. To register for the workshop, and to see the timetable for the day, please visit www.tiny.cc/NFNRworkshop
The workshop is part of a project called “New Fuels, New Rules?: An interdisciplinary exploration into the impact of low carbon passenger vehicles on society”. This project consists of a questionnaire and a workshop, and aims to bring together the understanding of experts involved in the development and implementation of a low carbon vehicle fleet, by opening a dialogue between the disciplines of vehicle technology, transport policy and applied ethics, all of which must work together in order to secure a sustainable low carbon vehicle market. The questionnaire, aimed at those with experience in the field of low carbon vehicles, and a broad knowledge of technologies and policies, collates:
· - Opinion on conflicting attributes and vulnerabilities of car ownership. the results will be used to form the framework of a facilitated discussion at the workshop.
· - Judgment on the impact low carbon vehicle policies will have on car ownership. The results will be used to assign inequality impact indicators of low carbon vehicle policies.
The survey should take less than 30 minutes to complete and is available online at www.survey.leeds.ac.uk/nfnr
